On March 4, Yanmar proudly announced the official sponsorship of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and of the national football team.
Since the formation of its very own football team in 1957, Yanmar has made constant efforts towards the promotion of football. A Partner Company of Cerezo Osaka which has produced such talented players as the world famous Shinji Kagawa, Yanmar is also an Official Global Partner for the English Premier League’s Manchester United.
Vietnam is currently the world’s third biggest exporter of rice. With the modernization of the agricultural industry and improvements in farming practices, further growth is expected in the future. Vietnam also has the fifth largest fisheries industry in the world, making it an important market for Yanmar. Starting as far back as 1950, Yanmar has been supporting Vietnam’s agricultural and fisheries industries, determined to actively contribute to improving the well-being of the Vietnamese people.
Following the foundation of an agricultural institute in Can Tho city in 2013, in August 2014 Yanmar established Yanmar Agricultural Machinery Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh to promote sales of agricultural machinery. Yanmar will continue to provide services and vital information to support the ongoing growth of the Vietnamese agricultural and fisheries industries.
In addition to these undertakings, Yanmar is putting its expertise gained from years of involvement in the highly developed Japanese fishing industry to use, by finding cutting edge solutions to some of the challenges facing the Vietnamese fishing industry. Yanmar has teamed up with the Institute for Ship Research and Development (UNISHIP) at Vietnam’s Nha Trang University to cooperate on research relating to energy efficiency, maintaining freshness of tuna, solutions for increased profitability and the modernization of tuna fishing vessels.
Highly regarded coach Toshiya Miura has the crucial task of leading the Vietnamese national football team. His presence is bringing about additional media coverage for the team. Ultimately it is Yanmar’s hope that its funding as an official sponsor will increase the popularity of the game throughout South East Asia.
