Shinji Kagawa

Shinji Kagawa, who currently plays a central role in the Japanese national team, entered Cerezo Osaka from FC Miyagi Barcelona in 2006.

In 2007, he became a regular in the starting lineup and the following year he featured in 35 games, playing a pivotal role in the team through 16 goals and 10 assists.

Representing Japan at the under-16 level, he graduated to the under-23 side for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, before earning selection for the national A team.

In the 2010/11 season, he was transfered to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.
This huge leap saw him elected Bundesliga Player of the Year, and saw him contribute significantly to Dortmund’s two consecutive league championships in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
In 2012 Kagawa transfered to Manchester United in the English Premier League, where in 2013 he became the first Japanese player to win the league championship.
At the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Kagawa played a pivotal role in the Japanese national team, wearing the number 10 jersey.
In September 2014 he returned to the German Bundesliga, where he once again plays for Borussia Dortmund and continues to succeed on the world stage.

Although small in stature, his agile play has mesmerized soccer fans the world over, and he continues to excel as he takes on new challenges; a close fit with Yanmar’s own brand image. Through our support of Shinji Kagawa, Yanmar too aims to become a major global player, and to continue excelling on the global stage.
